THE DOUBLE BLACK
INGREDIENTS:
- 2oz Double Black Espresso
- 20ml molasses anise syrup
- 8oz hot water
- Molasses whipped cream
- Sprinkle of salted molasses sugar topping
Here's how to make The Double Black:
Hit your cup with a splash of house-made molasses anise syrup.
Top it up with water and give it a good stir - wake things up.
Slow-pour Double Black right over the water.
Crown it with a mountain of molasses whipped cream.
Dust the peak with salted molasses sugar.
Serve it up and let the darkness do it's thing.
Here's how to make molasses anise syrup:
Load up a big pot of water, brown sugar, molasses, star anise, cinnamon and a pinch of salt.
Bring it to a gentle boil and let everything melt together into one seriously tasty base. Keep it simmering for 8-10 minutes.
Pull it off the heat and let it steep for 20 minutes.
Strain through a fine mesh sieve so only the smooth, spiced goodness makes the cut.
